Tchaikovsky: Iolanta
Iolanta lives in a beautiful enclosed garden on the King’s secluded estate. Looked after by her caring attendants she is unaware that she is a princess or that she does not have the sense of sight.
Iolanta was based on the Danish play, “King RenĂ©’s Daughter.” It is a one act with a libretto written by Tchaikovsky’s brother, Modest.
